Let's now talk about a learning tool called Hot Potatoes. It has a unique name, doesn't it? It's an application for your PCs and laptops to help you developing your materials. This application is similar to Super Teacher Tools. It has 6 different tools that you can use! The only difference is Super Teacher Tool can be used in form of website while Hot Potatoes can be used after you download the application.

Have you downloaded it? Good! Now, open the application and you will see there are 6 options of tools:
1. JCloze
2. JQuiz
3. JCross
4. JMatch
5. JMix
6. The Masher
I will explain each of the tools here.
1. JCloze
JCloze is a tool to help you make an exercise about fill in the blank. Open JCloze and you will see a box to write the title and the body of your exercise. Write the title and start wiring your exercise. After you finish writing the exercise, choose some words to be the gaps in your exercise. To give a gap for your students to fill, block the word and click "Gap" below the box. You will see another box shows up. You can give a clue and provide alternative answers to your students so they could answer it correctly. If you have filled the box, click "Done". If you want to undo the gap, click the gap you want to undo and click "Delete Gap". If you have done, click "Save".

JCloze - Cinderella
2. JQuiz
JQuiz is a tool to create a quiz in form of multiple choice, short answer, hybrid, or multi select. You should choose what type of question you want to create. Write the title of your quiz and write the question in the column provided. In multiple choice, you can provide up to four choices. in short answer, you can also give four choice of correct answers in case you students give different answers than you are expecting. In hybrid question, you may expect several different answers from your students. That's why you may also give several options of correct answers. In multi select question, you may provide several correct answers to be chosen. If you have finished making your exercise, click "Save".

3. JCross
JCross is a tool to create a crossword. You will see many small boxes to your crossword. Write the answers in form of cross word in the small boxes provided. Each box is for one word. The application will automatically write the number of each crossword. If you have finished, click "Add Clues" to help your students to fill in the crosswords. If you have done it, don't forget to save your JCross.

4. JMatch
JMatch is a tool to match words or phrases to the correct other words or phrases. Don't forget to give the title of your exercise. There are two column for writing your exercise. The left column is to write the ordered items while the right column is to write the jumbled items. If you want to give an example to your students, you can tick off "Fix" column. Save your work if you have finished.

5. JMix
JMix is a tool to make the students rearrange the words provided into the correct order. You write correct sentence in the main sentence column. You should write it word by word in not correct order. Then, write the alternative sentences in the alternative sentence column. Don't forget about the punctuation too. If you have done the exercise, save it.

6. The Masher
The Masher is a tool used to combine all tools from Hot Potatoes into one unit. Open The Masher, and click "Add Files". Choose the exercises you wish to be compiled into one unit. If you have finished, click "Build unit". Don't forget to save the file.
